Payns Templar Museum

Discover the history of the founder of the Order of the Temple, archaeological discoveries, the treasure of the Payns Templars and their fabulous legends

Discover the origins of the famous Order of the Templars through the history of its founder and first master: Hugues de Payns.

In the Seine Valley, enthusiasts have created a museum to revisit the forgotten history of the Order of the Temple. The visit is done around many media for a simplified and complete understanding whether one is a specialist or novice. Be surprised by the treasures on display, such as the 708 silver coins minted in the 12th and 13th centuries discovered after an archaeological survey of the site of the former Payns Commandery. You will be able to perceive the world of the Templars from the inside thanks to a model reconstructing the commandery according to its remains. The same goes for a documentary film about the life of Hugh de Payns and the Templars during the 12th and 13th centuries projected in a comfortable room. You will have the opportunity to deepen your Templar culture with the books offered at the museum shop and other souvenirs.

Providing booklets for children (4-7 years and 8-12 years) with diplomas and rewards!

Open all year from Wednesday to Sunday from 2pm to 6pm. From 4 years old
